What can I expect in the free consultation appointment?
The consultation appointment typically lasts 15-20 minutes and is a time for us to connect, briefly discuss your needs and goals for therapy, and make sure my therapy style will be a good fit for you. We will also discuss your scheduling preferences as well as insurance/payment details, to make sure my practice can meet your needs before we schedule our first session.
What can I expect in the first therapy session?
The intake appointment typically lasts 60-75 minutes and is designed for us to get to know each other, assess your current situation and experiences, and begin to clarify the issues we will address as well as the goals we will work toward. The assessment component includes questions about the reason you are seeking therapy, current symptoms, medical and mental health history, and relevant family and social history. This is also a time to discuss more specific items we may want to assess (e.g., exploring potential diagnoses) as well as putting a plan in place for the course of therapy moving forward.
What is your therapy style?
I use a collaborative and integrative approach with my clients. I believe therapy should be tailored to fit each client's unique needs, and my style is to make the process something that we build together. I integrate several different forms of therapy, such as mindfulness, acceptance and self-compassion, and cognitive-behavioral approaches, to give us a flexible range of effective tools and skills to accomplish your goals.
Can I use insurance for therapy sessions?
I accept BlueCross BlueShield of Arkansas (and most state PPO plans), Ambetter, and UnitedHealthCare. You may also be able to use Out of Network (OON) benefits from your insurance if approved for reimbursement. Insurance companies do not cover couple therapy in a traditional sense, but certain options may be available and can be discussed during our free consultation call.
What are your private pay rates?
My rate is $210 per session for individual and couple therapy sessions. The intake (first) session, is $250 which typically is longer and we will discuss your history, background, and goals for therapy.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept credit card payments, Venmo, Zelle, as well as FSA and HSA cards.
What is your cancellation policy?
Appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours before the appointment. Appointments that are missed or cancelled less than 24 hours will be charged a fee. Appointments can be cancelled via telephone or through the client portal.
How often will we meet?
At the early stages of therapy, I recommend meeting once per week (for 60 minutes). As we make progress, we may decide on a more flexible or less frequent schedule, depending on what works best for you.
Do you work with children or adolescents?
No, I only work with individuals who are 18 and older.
